Multifocal glasses
Whether we’re on the road and the phone rings, in the supermarket looking at prices on shelves, or at work and using a computer, the conclusion is the same: Today’s presbyopes are active, and the need for near and distant vision at the same time is omnipresent. The most effective answer to this need is multifocal glasses.
How does it work?
The upper side of the lens is dedicated to cover the distant vision. This corrects any myopia, hyperopia or astigmatism. Below this area, a progressive change in the strength of the lens begins, giving the eye the ability to see into an increasingly close zone as it moves downward. The lower area of the glass is a purebred nearby glass, ideal for reading. So, it does the job from three pairs of glasses: a distant, an intermediate and a close-up.
Are they the right choice for me?
This answer will be given with the discussion you will have with the optician or optometrist in our store, where we will ask you about your habits, your profession and we will take into account visual factors such as your recipe. With this process you and we will judge whether multifocal glasses are the most effective solution. However, it is a fact that they are increasingly preferred by our customers.
Will I get used to them?
Older generations of multifocals had visual distortions that greatly limited adaptation to them. However, digital technology has helped a lot. Both the acceptance by the user and the general sense of satisfaction are significantly improved and manageable. So why not?
And in the rare case that don’t get used to them for any reason, in cooperation with the lens manufacturer, we offer you an adjustment guarantee.
What multifocal should I choose?
We will discuss about different models or manufacturers. Each company develops different products, from relatively simple and economical lenses to lenses that carry the cutting edge of technology in their design.. Some focus on coverage of intense close use, others are aimed at professional drivers. With the discussion we will identify the appropriate formula
But does it need a large frame?
It is true that very small and narrow frames create limitations. But there are also multifocals for these frames. Most lenses on the market, however, are designed to fit the vast majority of frames.
Is their price affordable?
The answer is a little more complex here. First, multifocal lenses are generally more expensive than standard lenses for the same prescription. This is due to the fact that these products are special orders, that is, they are manufactured by companies separately for each customer and prescription, which increases costs.
Beyond that, the technology applied on each product determines the price, just like computers or cars. A basic or outdated multifocal lens has a lower price, but has more optical limitations, which affects fit and comfort. A state-of-the-art lens is clearly better, but also more expensive. But it may not be necessary. During the discussion with us, we will suggest products of different prices and qualities, in order to make the most prudent choice.
