Specifications and properties of frames

The selection of frames for our store is a long and intensive process during which we try to select from each collection those codes that meet the special requirements, desires and needs of our clientele. What we keep in mind is that a frame that is suitable for another market (city or country) does not necessarily match our market.

“The lenses matter, not the frame…”

A widespread perception among binocularists is that when choosing new glasses, attention should be paid to the quality of the crystals and secondarily to the frame. Our view is that quality (and not necessarily branding) plays a very important role in the success of glasses because:

1. The frame comes into contact with the skin and interacts with sweat.
2. The application on the face plays a key role in the visual performance of the recipe as well as the comfort of the glasses.
3. The durability of glasses is important. After all, in a durable frame lenses can be replaced if the prescription is changed.
4. Quality frames are accompanied by cover in spare parts in case of wear.
5. The very economical frames (ready-made glasses) do not have specifications that allow their processing in the optical laboratory for the purpose of applying prescribed lenses.

Therefore, all our frames meet the strictest European and international standards in terms of hypoallergenicity (release of chromium, other toxic or allergenic substances, sweat resistance), durability and facial protection. In addition, they withstand successive adjustments and treatments by an optical laboratory, while their manufacturers ensure the existence of spare parts in case of wear.

Materials:

Plastic
The main material is cellulose acetate, which is hypoallergenic, lightweight and with great plasticity (once heated). Its coloring is in its mass, therefore it can give impressive results.
There are also nylon-based materials, which are extremely durable and lightweight, ideal for sporty frames and large sunglasses. Some modern versions (TR-90, Ultem, Grilamid) show increased elasticity. Disadvantage is their superficial coloring.
Frames made of plastic are great for their durability and wide range of colors. Also, it is very difficult to create irritation and allergic reactions on the skin. They can be heated (but without igniting), while over time they lose their properties and become more fragile.

Metal
The most basic material is Monel, an alloy of various materials, which gives the frame increased corrosion resistance while making it easily adaptable. This material should not touch directly the skin, because it can cause irritation. Therefore, in the places of contact with it (ears, temples, nose) the metal must be covered with plastic parts (nasal, forearms).
Titanium or beta titanium alloy are the most modern materials for the construction of the highest quality frames. They are durable, elastic, hypoallergenic and resistant to corrosion. Finally, stainless steel is a solution with a very good value for money.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Performance and protection are among the main requirements in sports activities. The same goes for our eyes. Good vision is essential for the best results, while the eyes must be protected from accidents.
